Repairing My Damaged Hair With The Ordinary

Unfortunately my hair takes the brunt of my fickle tendencies. Not too long ago I craved the golden glow of a soft balayage. Several coats of extra strength peroxide later and there it was – a head full of hair craving some TLC.

I don’t regret doing balayage to my hair – just like I don’t regret most of my choices in life. However, one common trait that pops up each and every time I do something new to my hair – I go right back to how it was beforehand.

After a few short months of ombre blonde locks I decided enough was enough. My hair, as my mum put it, looked like a matted rope. It was dry, damaged and completely unruly. I missed my glossy, dark brown, healthy-looking locks which gave me at least 4 days of leeway when I couldn’t be bothered to wash it.

Rediscovering my old hair, however, was harder than I thought. Changing the colour wasn’t a problem, but the after-care was taxing. Although I went back to my original colour – my hair just wasn’t the same.

I suffer with alopecia so regardless, losing hair is not an unknown misfortune. However, I was losing chunks! My hair had become brittle and incredibly dry. Without styling my hair on a daily basis, it would look atrocious. Along with my daily intake of biotin and regular use of masks, I needed something to sort out the lacklustre of my hair.

The Ordinary Multi-Peptide Serum for Hair Density

During my stint with peroxide, I lost a lot of density to my hair. This concentrated formula is designed to promote thicker, denser, fuller and healthier hair – A lot of promises to live up to, but The Ordinary has never failed me before.

The formula includes:

REDENSYL™ complex, which is the newest breakthrough in hair loss. The blend of molecules have been proven to provide better results than a traditional hair transplant.

PROCAPIL™ peptide complex which helps to enhance hair growth by slowing down the ageing process of the hair follicle and strengthening the anchorage of the hair.

CAPIXYL™ peptide complex which reduces inflammation.

BAICAPIL™ complex which promotes anti-ageing for your hair and increases hair density.

AnaGain™ which is based on organic pea sprouts providing a natural remedy for hair loss.

High-Solubility Caffeine which we all know provides a zingy pep to your scalp, promoting cell renewal and stimulating hair growth.

This is a ‘leave in’ treatment which is designed for clean and dry hair without the need to rinse afterwards. My roots tend to get oily quite quickly, but I have notice an increased level of oiliness since using this product. That being said, I have an incredibly dry and itchy scalp so the increased oiliness is welcomed. However, any feeling of stickiness can be rectified with dry shampoo the morning after.

I’ve been using this product consistently for 2 months. I apply about 5/6 drops directly onto my scalp and massage in before bed using circular motions with the tips of my fingers. I concentrate mostly on my hair line and crown of my head where my alopecia tends to hit.

The density of my hair has most definitely increased in the short space of time that I’ve used this product. However, the most impressive results have been on my eyebrows. The ingredients of this glass bottle of magic are completely safe to use on other areas of your body. I’ll definitely be giving this a try on my eyelashes too.

The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Moroccan Argan Oil

Hair care is hard to write about without including this multi-tasking miracle oil. I first fell in love with this highly potent elixir during my travels to Morocco, where it is used as the ‘fix it all’ solution for all beauty woes.

With its high content of antioxidants, essential fatty acids, and vitamin E – the benefits of argan oil naturally help increase hair’s elasticity and consistency. It restores shine to dull and lifeless hair and also provides UV protection.

I’ve been using L’Oreal’s Mythic Oil as my hair serum of choice for quite some time. However, I’ve been looking for a natural, completely organic alternative since returning to my natural hair state.

Since the bleach, my hair has been extremely dry – soaking up any product I put on it like a sponge. I love the softness this oil gives to the ends of my hair, which is particularly dry.

The smell isn’t as pleasant as some hair oils, but hardly noticeable when it’s in your hair. However, the shine is incomparable to any other hair serums out there.

The Ordinary is renowned for their high quality products at minimal prices. At £5.90 for The Ordinary’s 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Moroccan Argan Oil and £15.75 for The Ordinary’s Multi-Peptide Serum for Hair Density both products are priced amazingly for the results that they give. I’ve been in love with their skincare for some time, but with their inclusion of hair car products, I’m excited to see what else they branch out to.
